Making your own hummus is really quite easy.  All you need are the right ingredients and a food processor (or blender).  Plus, when you make your own, you get to decide how thick or thin you want it.  I like it thicker for dipping, but thinner for wraps.  You can also add your own unique touch to it like I did here with the chipotle, which adds a nice spicy and smoky flavour.

MAKES: approx. 2 cups
TIMES: 15-20 minutes
1 15 oz can chickpeas, drained, reserving liquid
1/4 cup tahini
1/4 cup lime juice
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 chipotle pepper
1/2 tsp adobo sauce (give or take, from the can of chipotle peppers)
1 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper

1. Combine all ingredients into a blender or food processor, and process until smooth.

2. If the hummus is too thick ad a little bit of the reserved liquid from the chickpeas and process again.  Keep doing this until the dip has reached the desired consistency. (If you run out of reserved liquid and still want it thinner, you can use water.)
